Allergies and Alternatives

Between allergies and "Oops - don't have that ingredient", here are some suggested alternatives that can be used in most recipes.

You may need to check the flavourings carefully, as alternatives may introduce undesirable flavours.
Apple Pear or an alternatve fruit
Bread crumbs Unprocessed bran flakes
Butter
Margarine or oil
Cream or Yoghurt Milk (or soy milk) + 1 tbs flour
Dates Raisins
Egg 1 tbs custard powder + 2 tbs water
Milk Soy or rice milk
Sugar Brown sugar, golden syrup, honey, sucralose (eg Splenda) or fructose (sweetaddin)
Tomato paste Tomato sauce, chopped tomatoes or curry paste
Potatoes Sweet potato, carrot
Self raising flour Plain flour + 1tsp baking powder
Flour Gluten-free flour
