Apple Crumble

4 apples, peeled and sliced
2 tbs water
2 tbs sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
4 whole cloves

 

 

1 cup plain flour
½ cup butter
¾ cup brown sugar
½ cup rolled oats

  1. Preheat the oven to 160o C.
  2. Cook the apples in the water until soft. Drain and cool.
  3. Cut the butter into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
  4. Mix in the brown sugar and oats.
  5. Add the sugar, cinnamon and cloves to the cooled apples, and gently pack into a deep dish.
  6. Gently p ack the crumble mix on top of the apples.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes, until bubbly around the edges.
  8. Serve hot with custard, ice-cream or cream.
